EMEA has a big name missing...

Written by m4d0o3e

Although there were no major controversies over disqualifications or boosting this month (surprisingly), EMEA continued to shock us - with the major news this time being that Reply Totem, the reigning champions, failed to qualify for the Monthly Finals. The Qualifier had been going relatively as expected for the first day and a bit, with the only "upset" being Eclipsar Esport's win over Totem in the final round of the Upper Bracket.

However, the last round of the lower bracket was where all the fun was. Firstly, newly F/A roster Pirates faced an underdog side, Techno, consisting of zxcalendar, Zaiko, and TheSilent. With the former being heavy favourites in this matchup, it was expected they would not fail to make the MFs for two months in a row. However, the rookies took it all the way to double matchpoint, having won the first set. It was eventually Pirates who came out on top, but Techno showed they are a team to look out for.

Meanwhile, the big match came between Pale Fox Esports and Reply Totem. PFE, formerly VitaNavitas and Smirk Cats, have been upsetting some giants in the past couple of years, such as Team Queso and FUT Esports, though they could never surpass that final step. This month seemed different: following a near perfect first set, TTM looked to be on the ropes. The Italians pulled one back, but PFE clutched the third, with the whole world cheering them on, and making their 1st ever Monthly Finals.

Let's have a look at all the teams...

1) SK Gaming | Joker, LeNain, Yoshi825; KValafar (M), PedroGuijarro (C), OscarDC (A)

SK need no introduction at this point. Still at the top of the tree in EMEA, the Germans will be looking to hold onto that title, as the Worlds race gets closer and closer. They'll have to face long-term rivals FUT Esports if they are to progress.

2) Eclipsar Esport | Mebius, GuGu, OPE; Mathis (M), titidej59 (A)

ECP have been very strong in the past couple of months, having made the May Grand Finals, and getting revenge over Totem this Monthly Qualifiers. They have put themselves in a very good position, but if they want to consolidate their spot further, they have a very big challenge in their way: the World Champions.

3) HMBLE | Symantec, Lukii, BosS; Canaan (C), Vid (A)

HMBLE are proving to be a staple of the EMEA region. With two grand finals appearances and one semi-final appearance, it seems to be a matter of when not if they win the Monthly Finals. Will this be the month they finally do so?

4) Team Ogurchiki | Drage, Angelboy, Nob?; Nikounaki (M), Sugus (A)

Now without an org and with Drage instead of Cube, Ogurchiki seem a team revived. They seemed to be the 4th best in EMEA for a while, but following TTM's MF victory, things did not seem so sure. This team will for sure have Worlds aspirations, and if they can continue their form, they will certainly be challengers.

5) Pale Fox Esports | A, TheMeg, PineappleZ; Soufi (M), Royal (A)

Finally, they have made it to the Monthlies. Now, they need to show that this was not a fluke, and that they can consistently beat the top teams. They face OGC first, and if they do win, PFE will show they will be a contender for top spots for years to come.

6) FUT Esports | Gas, OG, Rama

They're finally back! After picking up promising Frenchman Gas, FUT look to be back up in business. Their LCQ dreams are all but over, though there is still money to play for on the line. Can they upset SK this month and kickstart their season?

7) ZETA DIVISION | GeRo, Nowy297, MeOw; Leightox (A)

ZETA found themselves in unfamiliar territory this month: the Lower Bracket. Nevertheless, they didn't show any signs of weakness as they strolled past Kebap. Last month, they drew the short straw as they faced SK in the quarters, but now they have to step it up if they do not want to fall behind in the Worlds race.

8) Pirates | Filippo, Tomzy, Salty; Shoto (M), Venm (A)

Last but not least, Pirates. This is an interesting team, because despite some turbulence with the roster recently, they have looked quite strong in third-party tournaments, such as the ECF Andorra Invitational and Brawl Ball League. They have a lot of work to do, but can they pull off a miracle qualification run to LCQ?
