MiniPekkas break SSG's streak

Written by chimdos

F/A MiniPekkas won the May Monthly Finals in South America after a close 3-2 victory against Spacestation Gaming last Sunday. Jubileu, Mohtep, and Pekka break the Spacestation streak, closing their distance in the leaderboard, as both teams look to compete for first place in South America.

Quarterfinal 1 | Team Queso 3-0 Balinhas

In the first quarterfinals, Team Queso faced off against an underdog team - Balinhas. But the Chilean roster made quick work of the Brazilians as they advanced with a 3-0 victory. It is the first appearance of the squad of Bala, Bicho, and Fleki, and we have all eyes on them for the future months.

Quarterfinal 2 | Spacestation Gaming 3-0 Olimpo Squad

Coming to the A Stream, Spacestation faced Olimpo Squad in a close but clean victory. Despite the 3-0 scoreboard, Spacestation had a tough match, with OS almost taking two sets. This first-round loss puts Olimpo Squad in a complicated position to contend for an LCQ spot, as rival teams have more points than the South American roster.

Quarterfinal 3 | F/A MiniPekkas 3-0 Urubus Do Pix

In the third quarterfinal, MiniPekkas faced Urubus Do Pix. With consistent appearances in all sets from Mohtep, MP advanced with a 3-0 victory. Despite taking out some games, UDP couldn't take down MiniPekkas and is also in a tough situation to contend for an LCQ spot. We are keeping a close eye on this team, as they have the potential to make a comeback at any moment. However, they have yet to achieve the success they desire.

Quarterfinal 4 | Reis Da PL 3-2 Marruecos

In the B Stream, Reis Da PL faced off against Marruecos in the best match of the quarterfinals. Both teams dug deep in each set, always going to the last round, but the game finished in favour of Reis Da PL, who completed a reverse sweep to advance with a 3-2 victory. IceCrow was the big surprise this time, claiming the MVP after great performances on every map. The 16-year-old player still has a lot to show, and we are excited to see his future.

Semifinal 1 | Team Queso 0-3 Spacestation Gaming

Going to the semifinals, Team Queso faced off against Spacestation again, just like last month. History repeated itself as SSG bested TQ to advance with a 3-0 victory. Team Queso has already consolidated itself as one of the strongest contenders for LCQ and as a top 3 team in South America. The synergy between Bryan, Jxcr, and Rhz has been increasing each month, and we might see different results in their future encounters.

Semifinal 2 | F/A MiniPekkas 3-1 Reis Da PL

Just like last month again, MiniPekkas faced Reis da PL. This time, MP came better prepared, as they advanced to the Grand Finals in a 3-1 victory with great individual performances from Mohtep. Reis Da PL kept consistency, showing up again in the top 4 of the region, firming the team as a strong contender to take out the second spot for the Last Chance Qualifier.

Grand Finals | F/A MiniPekkas 3-2 Spacestation Gaming

All things came down to this moment as MiniPekkas faced Spacestation again in the Grand Finals. SSG started with a 2-1 lead, taking the Brawl Ball and Gem Grab set, but with crazy step-ups from Jubileu, Mohtep, and Pekka, MiniPekkas were able to tie everything to the last set of Hot Zone. With dominant gameplay in Dueling Beetles, MiniPekkas closed out and won the Monthly Finals with a 3-2 final victory. This victory closes the distance between the two teams in the regional leaderboard, as MP broke SSG's win streak, and are now only 54 points away, putting themselves in a good position to steal the direct qualification to the World Finals.

This month, MiniPekkas finally ended Spacestation's streak, challenging them not only for the Monthly title but for first place in the leaderboard. Jubileu, Mohtep, and Pekka found the key to the victory, and with only two Monthly Finals left, there is not much time to pass them and become the best team in South America. Will MiniPekkas be able to win again next month? Or is it Spacestation's time to show they are still the best team in the region?
