A player joins, and a player leaves

On Sunday, Mric announced that he had decided to leave Eclipsar Esport and is now F/A. It came as somewhat of a shock - with Eclipsar making the March Monthly Finals, they didn't seem to be struggling too badly - but with the opportunity to sign Mebius, they didn't give it up.

During the offseason, OPE and GuGu announced early on that they would be teaming together, for the first time since 2022, when they were in OGS. Despite the early announcement, it took them quite some time to find a 3rd, trying multiple players, before finding a fellow Frenchman in Mric, who seemed to complement them well. Mric had previously been on F/A MrDoSa, one of the biggest revelations of 2023, where 3 relatively unknown players teamed up and qualified for the first Monthly Finals.

They exceeded most expectations of the team in the Monthly Qualifier, beating both HMBLE and BC* Gaming in their Upper Bracket run to the Monthly Finals. In the quarter-finals, they faced BC* Gaming yet again, but this time, it was not the same result as the MQs, and they fell to a 3-2 defeat, ending their journey for March. Despite this, they were still very much in the race for the LCQ spots, and it was not really any cause for panic.

When Mebius announced himself as F/A though, it seems like the team wanted to pounce on the opportunity. The Ukrainian is an accomplished player - having reached two SPS Challenge Finals, as well as having a silver medal in the Monthly Finals. So Eclipsar picked him up, beneficial to both parties who have aspirations of reaching international tournaments. From the phrasing of Mric's tweet, it seems as though he wasn't dropped, but perhaps benched, which understandably as a player of his calibre, he may not have wanted. Having said this, it is good to see them leave on friendly terms, and let's hope Mric finds a new home quickly.

Eclipsar now have a point to prove, having sacrificed French communication for what they seem to think will achieve better results - and will have to show this on the weekend by qualifying for their second successive Monthly Finals, and maybe even going further in the Finals themselves.
