SK's Superteam Announcement

SK Gaming are looking to return to the top of EMEA and they're doing so in style.

After a 2023 season full of highs and lows, the German giants will be looking for some more stability and are seeking to get back to winning ways domestically, having failed to win a Monthly Final since September 2022. As a result, they've brought in players who know how to win.

The roster has not been a complete overhaul, as the org has stuck with Pedro for what would be his 4th full year at the helm. They've also decided to retain the Spaniard Yoshi, who was signed from rivals Tribe Gaming EU at the start of 2023. However, with the departure of GuilleVGX, iKaoss, and OPE, it was evident that the org was looking for a fresh start.

The first of their new signings - LeNain. The 20-year-old has played for SK's biggest domestic rivals in the past - AC Milan QLASH, Tribe Gaming EU, and then FUT Esports - but now he will join forces with the German organisation, looking to better the podium finish they achieved at Worlds in 2023. Having a 3-time Monthly Final champion on board will really bolster their the roster with his experience.

Their second signing is one that many will be looking forward to. SK have made a big move, signing hometown hero Joker, one of the biggest talents in Brawl Esports. Having captained Reply Totem to international glory in Japan, 2022's rookie of the year announced he was moving on to find a new project, and of course, SK could not resist the opportunity.

A few days later, SK announced another signing from Reply Totem, OscarDC, who will be part of the team's supporting staff as an analyst. Oscar worked with the organisation in 2020, before he left to join XO Free Agents, and then Reply Totem in 2022.

There will be large expectations of SK's roster - but they faced similar expectations when they announced 2023's roster, when looking to emulate AQM's success in 2021, though it did not pan out that way. They will be hoping that they can make amends this year and compete from the get-go, and hopefully finish on another high.
