VN make some big changes

VN Esporting's target for this year has always been to challenge for the international spots. However, after failing to qualify for their first Monthly Final, this seems to at risk. Therefore, they have made the tough decision of parting ways with Mebius with hopes of finding someone who can bolster their bid for LCQ.

The Ukrainian made the move to VN Esporting in early 2023, when the team was known as ANR, from a struggling team made up of himself, LeNain, and Cyclone. It would be hard to argue that this move was unsuccessful, as he qualified for 3 monthly finals with the team, including a 2nd place finish. They also reached the finals of both Season 3 and 4 of the Snapdragon Pro Series, with the former being a LAN in Cologne. On the international stage, they reached the Last Chance Qualifier, and were just one game away from qualifying for World Finals, losing out to NAVI after they had survived the "Group of Death", facing off against STMN Esports, QLASH, and Chasmac Gaming NA.

All this evidence suggests that his tenure at VN was very successful, which makes the decision all the more puzzling. For Mebius, there don't seem to be many options in terms of teams for him to join. EMEA has always had a reluctance for 4-man rosters, even more so this year, so it is hard to see him joining any of the rosters that qualified for last month's Monthly Finals. He could join a lower-profile team, but a player of his calibre could be good enough to still compete at the top level. However, it seems to make most sense for him to replace blaksxy in 17 alongside his fellow Ukrainians. No matter what decision he takes, we wish him the best of luck.

VN seems to have moved on already. On Telegram, Selavi announced that he would be joining the team as coach, alongside blaksxy. Selavi has spent the last few years coaching Natus Vincere, but parted ways with the team after a group stage exit at Worlds. Meanwhile, most of blaksxy's time at the top has been spent with Team Queso, where he won a Monthly Final and qualified for MSI, though was later dropped, and then re-signed the next year. He will certainly be a different player to Mebius, especially with a difference in language and communication.

If this was not enough drama, the org announced on the 2nd of April that their investors had pulled out and would have to terminate some of their rosters' contracts. Whether this will affect the Brawl Stars roster is still unknown, but is another spanner thrown into the works. This may mean the team will continue as F/A or have to find a new org.

VN's decision is no doubt a strange one, but they have more knowledge of what happens in a team than we do. Time will tell whether this decision was for the best or not.
